personally I think it's a nasty habit, but everyone in my family does it
But it's good to hear your quitting, and I agree with your belief that smoking is not a sin, it's like saying drinking coffee is a sin, it's just a habit, which happens to be bad for your health | |

i'm not supporting smoking but still, just cause you smoke, it doesn't make you any less worthy in his eyes
We're also not supposed to kill, yet He let guns & explosives be invented.
We're not supposed to steal, yet He let lock-picks be invented.
We're not supposed to commit adultery, yet sex and pornography is everywhere.
God gave us free will to see if we make the proper choices in life. Just because God forgives you doesn't mean that nothing you do is wrong. Casey is correct in saying that the Bible tells us to take care of our bodies, and you saying "too bad" is definitely not more powerful than the Word of God.
Taking your approach is like saying that no sin is wrong since we are forgiven for them; this is certainly not the message Jesus was trying to get across. Sins are wrong, and just because we are forgiven does not mean there are not consequences for them. | |

The only thing I was saying is that the Bible does label smoking as a sin. Not once did I say she wouldn't be forgiven. Not once did I say God wouldn't let her into Heaven. Why? Because I can't pretend to know this. I can however, say that smoking does go against God's will, because the Bible tells us to take care of our bodies.
Colin also said that "if its wrong we wouldn't be able to do it", which I strongly disagree with. I think it's very hypocritical that you should be able to share your views yet I can't share mine.
She wanted to know what we think on smoking from a religious point of view. I gave her my view.

Also, the bible says "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body"
